Remembering Griff

I just heard some tragic news.  Jenny is a Canadian lady living local to me who I met through one of the lurcher rescue messageboards. I homechecked her over a year ago and last time I saw her in September, she had a rescued racing greyhound called Maple and a beautiful young lurcher called Griff, barely more than a year old, and one of the most handsome and good-natured lurchers I have ever encountered.

Jenny was out walking with her dogs yesterday, when somehow Griff managed to make his way onto the nearby railway line where he was sadly killed by an oncoming train. Bad enough that it happened at all, but even worse, she was the one who discovered the remains of his body.

Griff was a lovely, gangly lad, without a bad bone in his body. He was much loved by everyone who met him, and especially by Jenny and her three small children. He will be sorely missed.

Any good thoughts that anyone could spare for Jenny and her family would surely be appreciated, and many of us who knew her will be taking time out today to remember a very special dog who deserved many more years on this earth than he was allotted.

More Sad News

It's been a weekend of tragedy for hound owners, it seems.

Lisa (founder of Greyhound Gap for whom I have done bits and pieces of volunteer work) lost one of her own dogs to a heart attack yesterday while out in the middle of a walk.

Goodbye and run free Queen Bea, you funny, lovely, pretty girlie. You'll be missed by all of us that met you. Thoughts go out to Lisa, her family, and her pack. Sigh.

On a Happier Hound Note

 PHOENIX, the rescue greyhound who was (un?)lucky enough to have a name suggested by me and was then adopted by his foster carer, continues to go from strength to strength.

It was only a joke when she asked for name suggestions, but apparently she decided it suited him, especially since he'd been rescued from an unpleasant fate. So Phoenix he is, and Phoenix he will stay.

Oh Man! Look What I Missed Over Xmas!

silverhalo  totally drew a picture based on a suggestion I made on one of the comms for Phoenix Wright Xmas art. AND I TOTALLY MISSED SEEING IT BECAUSE I WAS AWAY FOR XMAS AND HAD NO INTERNET ACCESS.

Man, I am so sorry I didn't see it earlier because it's just tooooo cute! I have now rectified this by printing out a copy to add to my growing gallery at work. I don't care if it's not seasonal any more, I LOVE IT.

Mine is the child Miles and child Phoenix (as if you couldn't guess!). But the other pics are completely lovely too XD
